Benjamin Nesbit USA-bound after Team Australia U18 National Junior Baseball Squad selection
Posted May 16, 2024 in Student Achievement
SEDA student Benjamin Nesbit has earned a spot on Team Australia’s Under 18 National Junior Squad for baseball.
The squad is set to play in the USA from September – October 2024, where a notable audience of up to 700 scouts and college recruiters will be present.
This selection places Ben among a select group of 38 athletes chosen for the U18 Australian squad, a recognition stemming from his standout performance at the recent U18 Australian Youth Championships held in January 2024.

During this event in Blacktown, Sydney, where Ben represented the U18 Western Australian team, he impressed the Head of Baseball Australia, scouts, and the Australian World Cup coach who were in attendance for talent scouting purposes.
Reflecting on his selection, Ben commented, “This is my first time representing Australia, I’m excited and looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of scouts.”
Ben plays locally for the Eastern Phantoms U17s Senior League Baseball Charter, who took home their 6th State Championship win in a row this recent school holidays period. This win spells another trip in mid-May for Ben, as it qualifies him and his team to compete in the National Championships held in Geelong, Victoria.
Ben currently attends SEDA in the West Coast Eagles Sports Development Program as a Year 11. For members of the SEDA Family wishing to support Ben as he represents Australia, Baseball Australia will be streaming the matches for free online. SEDA College extends its best wishes to Ben as he heads to Florida, congratulating him on this achievement and recognizing the honor of representing Australia.
