Areas of Study

Our curriculum is planned and developed with industry experts.  SEDA College WA takes the traditional WACE and VET curriculum and contextualises it to create maximum student engagement.

Below is a example of some Areas of Study students may take during their time at SEDA.

Great coaches are hard to find. In this area of study, students are introduced to the roles and responsibilities of an entry level coach. Students explore and compare good and poor coaching practices and are given the opportunity to apply these skills with real life participants. Coaching practices are reviewed, and the students skills are refined so that they are ready to conduct participation clinics representing their sporting partner.

In The Athlete, students will gain an understanding of what it takes to perfect skills. Students will learn how to perform a skill analysis and design and implement a development program. Students will explore and  apply skill improvement tools and feedback mechanisms and compare skill abilities of varying levels of athletes.

You will have the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for turning your passion for coaching into a successful career. In addition, you have the opportunity to network with SEDA’s sporting partners and leaders in the industry to learn coaching principles and develop coaching sessions.

Sport is the universal language. Take the time to explore how sport can influence and shape the culture within a community. Learn and experience how sport can break down all sorts of barriers and bring people together. In this area of study, students will connect with sporting partners and industry strategies to help build better communities.

Participate in the SEDA College WA Game On season and develop your skills and broaden your knowledge about the game you love. In this area of study, students put their skills and conditioning into match practice, as well as gain a broader understanding of what it takes to run a sporting competition. Participate in Game On, show off your skills and explore other aspects of the game such as sports psychology, officiating, fixtures and resulting.

MyPLAN is a digital portfolio that supports students to track their individual goals, achievements, experiences, and growth during their time at SEDA College WA. Underpinning MyPLAN are the Transferable Work Skills and Personal Habits, which have been identified as important attributes, attitudes, and mindsets to develop in order to succeed at SEDA and beyond. Development of the MyPLAN portfolio, and the Transferable Work Skills and Personal Habits, is supported with timetabled MyPLAN sessions in class and regular MyPLAN meetings between teachers, parents, and students.
