Study AFL and complete your Year 11 and 12 in the Fremantle Dockers Program. The program provides a direct link to industry opportunities in a hands-on learning environment all connected to your interest in AFL.

The connection between education and industry facilitates authentic learning experiences and student opportunities. This combination enables our students to acquire the skills to support future educational and employment pathways.

This program is also available at SEDA College WA’s Bunbury MultiSport campus.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to connect students to ideas, skills and knowledge that can be applied far beyond the boundaries of a classroom, with courses delivered and completed over Years 11 and 12.

Areas of Study

Students explore what it means to be behind the whistle, developing the knowledge and practical skills required to officiate at a grassroots level. Through partnerships with sporting organisations, they gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and learn the importance of fairness, integrity, and continuous improvement in officiating.
Students are introduced to the roles and responsibilities of an entry-level community coach, exploring and comparing effective and ineffective coaching practices. Through practical application, reflection, and feedback, they refine their coaching, professionalism, and customer service skills to better meet the needs of participants.
Students gain essential first aid knowledge and practical skills required within the Sport and Recreation industry. They learn to confidently identify, assess, and respond to a range of first aid situations to ensure participant safety.
Students explore the key factors that influence sporting performance, including skill development, movement analysis, and training principles. Through practical application, they design training programs, apply feedback strategies, and develop the tools needed to enhance performance in individual and team settings.
Students examine how sport can influence culture, shape communities, and break down social barriers. Through media analysis and industry engagement, they reflect on sport’s impact and explore strategies to use sport as a vehicle for positive change.
Students design and develop their own sports team, combining coaching philosophy, leadership, marketing, and teamwork strategies. The project culminates in a team launch and mock press conference, where students present their vision, values, and session plans to an audience.
Students explore the connection, culture, and challenges of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the documentary The Ripple Effect. They reflect on themes of identity and belonging while creating a personal text that shares their own story and life journey.
Students develop career-ready skills through practical experiences such as relocation simulations, entrepreneurial challenges, and personal brand development. Through projects like LinkedIn portfolio creation and business pitches, they build confidence, adaptability, and professional presence.
Students choose a cause or charity they are passionate about and take action to create meaningful impact. Through community involvement, social media advocacy, and a final presentation, they share their journey and demonstrate the power of purpose-driven learning.

We partner with the biggest sporting brands and organisations in Western Australia, which allows us to facilitate real life industry experiences and student opportunities.

The Fremantle Football Club are dedicated sports professionals who offer a range of opportunities for students to learn from the industry experts. With a strong passion to see young people participate and enjoy the game of Australian Rules Football they help deliver an industry-based curriculum that empower students with the right skills, knowledge and attitude for a successful future. We connect students, via their MyPlan, to engage with the Fremantle Football Club for future career pathways. 

You get to experience a range of opportunities including: 

 

  • The opportunity to complete work placements at the Fremantle Football Club. 
  • Working in fan activation (Purple Playground), membership, and community development departments at Fremantle Dockers home games 
  • Assisting to manage curtain raisers on match days 
  • Coaching and Umpiring accreditation and development 
  • Assisting with Dockers Cup Carnivals in various capacities 
  • Deliver Fremantle Dockers Schools Program Gala Days at the Cockburn ARC 
  • Assist with School Holiday Programs run by the Fremantle Football Club 
  • Exclusive tours of the Fremantle Dockers training facility at the Cockburn ARC and Optus Stadium 
  • Access to Fremantle Football Club guest speakers that link to SEDA areas of study 
  • Deliver Primary School Clinics on behalf of the Fremantle Football Club 

Admissions

Selection into SEDA College’s programs is based on an online application and interview process.

Entry – 2026

Individuals must be born between 01/07/09 – 30/06/10 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.

Entry – 2027

Individuals must be born between 01/07/10 – 30/06/11 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.

Entry – 2028

Individuals must be born between 01/07/11 – 30/06/12 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.

SEDA College WA fees for Year 11 and 12 students are inclusive of the following:

  • Tuition expenses 
  • Annual uniform allocation 
  • Some incursions/excursions 
  • Student insurance 
  • Notebook computer, which contains all coursework (no textbooks are required to be purchased). The notebook may be retained by the student at the completion of Year 12 provided that all School Fees have been paid in full.


*Charges for optional tours, camps and excursions are payable in addition to the Student Fees.
