Take learning onto the courts with the Basketball WA Sports Development Program

From heading down to shoot a few hoops with friends at the park, to watching the Wildcats dominate the courts, basketball creates many opportunities for fun, teamwork and connection. Little wonder, then, that so many people love the sport!
At SEDA College WA, we’re thrilled to give young students the opportunity to take their love of the game even further, with unique hands-on learning through our Basketball WA Sports Development Program.
What is the Basketball WA Sports Development Program?
The SEDA College Basketball WA Sports Development Program gives Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to enjoy an elite sport education. If the idea of studying in sport in school appeals to you, this course could be the perfect fit.
This program is delivered in partnership with Basketball WA, Perth Lynx, and Perth Wildcats, giving students a direct link to industry opportunities. At the core of it all is a love of basketball, and taking a hands-on approach to turning that interest and passion into long-term opportunities.

What are some of the industry opportunities available?
One of the most exciting aspects of the Basketball WA Sports Development Program in our basketball college is the opportunity to get out into the real world of competitive basketball and learn from industry experts. Just a few of the various opportunities available include:
- – Assisting in School Slam Series Events throughout the year
- – Completing work placements at Basketball WA
- – Coaching and officiating at various community events
- – Coaching and umpiring accreditation and development
- – Opportunities to gain paid casual employment at Basketball WA events
- – Delivering Primary School Clinics on behalf of Basketball WA
