SEDA student Makayla Hendry represented WA in late March on the WA Cricket Pathways Tour, which saw her fly to Adelaide to compete.
Makayla, who hails from SEDA’s Year 12 Cricket Australia Sports Development Program based in Murdoch, was selected amongst the competitive local pool of female cricketers playing within WA Cricket.
The selection process involved WA Cricket staff watching games and reviewing stats of young female cricketers aged 15-19, aiming to identify talents as a pathway opportunity to gain selection for the Under 19 State Team.
She played 3 games and impressed across all games, the highlight being her 13 runs and 1/22 in one of the games in which WA were victorious by 16 runs.
During her time in Adelaide, Makayla not only got out on the field but also was able to take the chance to explore the city and relax at the beach for recovery between matches.
Said Makayla, “Overall it was a great experience and opportunity. It was good to play in different conditions and against different opponents as well.”
SEDA congratulates Makayla on her fantastic achievements and wishes her luck for future opportunities at the state level.
