Wrapping up an amazing 2024 season

Posted December 20, 2024 in SEDA Life

2024 was a huge year for SEDA College WA. From academic and sporting achievements, through to memorable camps, workshops and celebrations, we made it a year to remember. We’ve covered off just a few of the highlights below.

Starting off Strong

We started 2024 with a Year 11 and 12 season launch at Optus Stadium. Daniel from StreetX and the team from Student Edge shared some inspirational presentations, helping to hype up our students for the year to come.

Our year also began with camps at Jurien Bay, Manjimup, Busselton, Margaret River, Denmark and Guilderton, giving our students the chance to reach out to wider communities and give back while taking part in a sport they love.

Draft Days

Our Draft Days are always a big event in our SEDA College calendar, and 2024 was no exception. The talent and effort put in by our students saw them smash a hugely impressive 23 records set in 2023. The Draft Days were also a chance for our students to learn more about sports science, develop their leadership skills and achieve their goals.

Game On

Game On is the name of our signature sports carnival at SEDA College – and like the name suggests, we go all out. Our 2024 Game On themes honoured Harmony Day, NAIDOC Week and R U Ok? Day, with students competing in a variety of friendly round-robin tournaments on the pitches, fields and courts.

Baldja Mob camp

The Baldja Mob camp was held at Myalup Pines on Wardandi Boodja, and provided a special opportunity for our Baldja Mob to share, learn and connect with culture. This included activity sessions with the Stephen Michael Foundation and Steve Jacobs from Culture Tours, taking part in a Welcome to Country, and spending quality time fishing and exploring the land as a group.

Unforgettable Events

Our first SEDA College Year 12 School Ball took place in 2024. It was a night to remember, with our students dressing to impress and taking time to celebrate their achievements over the year.

Towards the end of the year, our Premiership Quarter event covered presentations on safety at leavers and university opportunities, delivered from a range of guest speakers. It was an exciting time for our students, as they prepared to embark on a new chapter in their lives.

Graduation Celebrations

248 students graduated from SEDA College WA in 2024, including our first ever Construction and Trade cohort. This was a real achievement and a testament to the hard work our students, teachers and support staff put in all year.

Looking Ahead to What’s Next

So much happened in 2024, and 2025 looks to be just as jam-packed. If you’d like to know more about the SEDA College difference, we welcome you to attend one of our upcoming information nights.
