SEDA Wellbeing Team

Student Wellbeing

At SEDA College, we operate as a child safe organisation, meaning the safety and wellbeing of our students is at the center of all that we do. We prepare our students with the knowledge and understanding of healthy relationships, their rights, and strategies that they can use to help themselves and those around them.

We believe in doing so we will grow happy, healthy, and ultimately high-performing young people, which is a key ethos the College lives by.

We understand the significance of wellbeing for student achievement. The “one teacher, one classroom” model we use allows our teachers to develop positive relationships with each student and support their individual journeys.

They act as mentors, supporting both learning and wellbeing throughout the program. If concerns become more significant, each teacher will collaborate with the Heads of Senior School and/or Student Connect Team to provide the best care possible.

Student Connect provides professional wellbeing assistance in collaboration with the teaching team and parents/carers. We find open and regular communication makes a difference to a student’s experience while they are at school. We encourage regular contact between SEDA College WA staff, students and parents/carers; and where appropriate, external support providers. This is critical to ensure each student’s individual needs are met.

Our aim is to develop each student’s capacity to access support services in their local area that are age appropriate and best placed to assist.

Student Connect also promotes student wellbeing through Proactive Programs that are relevant to the needs of our students. These programs support our students and develop awareness towards our key College values – Growth, Resilience, Empathy, Accountability and Teamwork.

If you would like to get in touch directly with Student Connect our email address is studentconnect@seda.wa.edu.au.
