Celebrating an epic 2025
Posted December 18, 2025 in SEDA Life
From success out on the sporting field, through to awesome camps and clinics, we made the most of every opportunity.
Check out some of the (many) highlights below!
We Tried Something New
We launched our Rugby WA Sports Development Program to great success in 2025. We’re delighted to have two classes starting in 2026, with support from our program partners RugbyWA and Western Force.
Our Baldja Mob Thrived
Leadership was front and centre in 2025, with our Baldja Mob stepping up to the plate. This included running an activation before the Indigenous All Stars AFL match and supporting the Fremantle Dockers and City of Cockburn to run their NAIDOC event. Students in our Baldja Mob helped kids design NAIDOC jerseys and run clinics for primary schools in the area.
Building our skills
Our Construction and Trade class built a safe space to play for a student at St Columba’s School in Bayswater. The student had a condition that prevented her from playing on the full range of sports equipment, in case she suffered a head injury. Our students’ work was greatly appreciated!
Winning at Life
Our SEDA College students enjoyed plenty of wins this year. Here are a few of them:
> Our AFL boys took home the SSWA win for the year (Glendinning division).
> Our AFL girls won their fifth year in a row at the SSWA Freo Dockers Cup at Optus Stadium – absolute legends!
> Our SSWA Netball team placed second, which is the highest we’ve ever ranked in that competition.
> 7 of our WA teams made it to the finals for AFLW, Cricket, Soccer Girls, AFL Boys and Netball at the SEDA Cup in Melbourne.
> Bunbury participated in Country Week to great success, with our team taking on the champions in Basketball Girls and AFLW.
We Gave Back
Our SEDA College staff team put their all into community initiatives this year. This included volunteering at Workpower, an organisation that supports people with disabilities to work in gardening and sustainability roles.
Other initiatives included building wheelchairs for Wheelchairs for Kids (which are then sent across Australia and overseas), cleaning up the beaches at Rottnest and wrapping up Christmas presents for breast cancer donations.
Having a ball
Our School Ball was a real highlight for students. Everyone looked incredible and Optus Stadium was the perfect place to dance the night away. We loved every second!
Epic Camps and Clinics
We continued to expand our community clinics, which were once only for primary school students. All-abilities clinics for people with disabilities rolled out campus-wide, and our Connecting Generations program expanded from Bunbury to Perth. This program supports elderly people to take part in walking football.
Our awesome community camps saw our students provide community clinics to schools in Guilderton, Jurien Bay, Margaret River, Busselton, Manjimup and Denmark.
SEDA-later
Last but not least, we said goodbye (SEDA-later) to 242 graduating students. In 2026, we’re back with 622 students, with 355 of those being new Year 11s.
Phew! Like we said, 2025 certainly delivered. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for 2026. If you’d like to know more about SEDA College WA and how you can be part of the difference, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming information nights.
